cousin once removed, we will call her Tina. Her mother, my cousin, has struggled with substance abuse her entire life so Tina never had much of an upbringing, in fact my aunt really raised her. Anyway, I was preparing Tina's tax return and was really proud of the progress she was making. She's going to the local community college getting a CNA certificate, she had a job at a local hospital, and I was thinking that she would break the cycle of poverty. When she came to pick up her tax return she told me she was expecting a baby. Now she will be a single mother and I don't know if she will be able to finish her schooling. There was no mention of getting married. Makes me really sad.
