My fond memories of scouting are doing everything ancillary to the core program.
Playing basketball in the church gym after suffering through the hour of the actual scouting program. I honestly can't think of one iota of information or skill that I acquired through completion of merit badges. Camping trips...fun, when you aren't actually doing scouting stuff. My mom told me I had to have my eagle to drive, so I got my eagle at 14 and never went back. I'm still waiting for my chance to attend another Eagle's nest. I'm going to walk up there flapping my arms and yelling CAAAWWWW, CAAAWWWW!.

That Eagle on your resume buys you nothing when you are applying for a job with me. If you disagree with me, go commiserate with my mother about how the world has gone to heck in a handbasket.
