To show how nuts the Utah housing market is, you cannot even get a price on new
construction from some builders.
Last week I twice heard from people looking to build that were not told exactly how much the house would cost.
One was told "if you want one of our lots and a house on it, pick the house plan and submit a bid stating how much you are willing to pay; highest bidder wins."
The other was told "It all depends on when we can get around to building the house. Escalating costs could increase the price by up to $50,000 so expect to pay between X and X by the time it is finished."
This is just crazy!
