We have two solid coaches in our football and men’s basketball programs that Holmoe hired. Football is trending in the right direction with Sitake in charge. Pope may end up being a superstar.
Holmoe almost single handedly saved the 2020 football season. Our schedule decimated by COVID, he pulled a rabbit out of a hat with scheduling and we ended the season with a #11 finish in the AP and coaches polls. The first time we have finished a season like that in a decade.
Many of our other sports have been doing very well for long stretches at a time.
Holmoe is a man of integrity and super professional with how he represents our university.
He’s not flawless of course. Allowing a rookie head football coach to hire a bunch of other rookie coaches really hurt the program for a time, and his challenges with getting BYU into a P5 conference are well documented.
On balance, though, we got a good one running our athletic department.
