Making the ultimate sacrifice... for a dog
My wife and I were eating outdoors at a place in Orange County just a few days ago when we saw a couple walking with a dog in a wagon. We love dogs, and the couple was lingering nearby, so we asked them about it.

They rescued a dog that was seriously injured in an accident and now has no legs. To be clear, they rescued the dog after the accident.

Their care for the dog includes... well, everything you’d expect. Feeding hand-to-mouth, watering with a bottle, changing a diaper, etc. the dog required round-the-clock care.

All my wife and I could talk about after the interaction was the sacrifice these two people have made for a dog. Like, they have disrupted their lives in a very serious way to care for a severely disabled dog. I mean, on the one hand that kind of selflessness is admirable, but on the other... it’s a dog.
