Neither the football nor the basketball program is lobbying to return to the bad old days, after successful seasons for both. Even with the latest clout, a non-starter.
Fact: BYU is an ESPN product now, not a prospective schlub on the MWC channel with the worst TV contract in the USA. The landscape of college sports featuring league-dedicated channels has turned BYU into a valuable programming commodity. One only has to review this past BB season where the Cougars were on ESPN more later in the season than on BYU-TV. Football will follow that same path.
The brand is far more established today. The future is actually a future now, not limited to late night sports programming.
