and not as a league. The public has no tie to this organization like they do to schools or large brand professional sports. You would have to be an enthusiastic spectator of the game of basketball only. The talent will only be there a couple years which gives you little interest in the development of your team. Though the same is true in college, most fans have a tie to the college even if they didn't go there. I love the sport and still don't watch foreign ball, about 99% of colleges except in the tournament, hardly any high school ball or any academy level teenager play. This proposal is literally throwing money away.
Maybe it could survive in some of the remaining cities with no NBA teams- St Louis, Seattle, Kansas City, Nashville, Pittsburg etc but they will have to compete with other professional sports and grow fanbases where players aren't sticking around on contracts. Seems like the concept is entirely driven by player renown which is ridiculous. Even Lebron's marketability is partially possible because of the fans of the respective teams he was on have an interest in his being there. NBA teams and college teams have a reciprocal growth based on the team and the players. With no player loyalty or fanbase this will flop.
