My uncle tells of a scout campout next to a lake in Idaho. Some of the boys were playing with fire and lit the hill next to the lake on fire. All the other scouts jumped in to help put it out, and the forest ranger pulled up in a boat just as they finished.
He shouted to the shore, "Thank goodness you scouts we're here to put that fire out."
One scout responded, "It was the least we could do since we started it!"
Fortunately the ranger took pity on them and didn't fine them a million dollars. Also, they didn't make the news that day... barely.
