The transfer thing just occurred to me tonight while I finally had the chance to watch the BYU-SMC game. None are RMs, 4 are not LDS, none had ties to BYU, yet Pope brought them in to play ball and they are thriving. Pretty amazing stuff. The way Pope has built this program and developed such a cohesive team culture despite so many moving parts in such a short time is incredible.

Edit: Thanks to CB for reminding me that Lohner was not a transfer, he just switch commitments from a school (and coach) that would have been a very unfortunate place for him to be.

Edit #2: Lohner’s dad played for BYU, so he did actually have ties.
