Anybody had their home reroofed (new shingles over current shingles)? good idea?

bad idea? obviously it should be less expensive, but I'm wondering how much. Been considering a new roof for a couple years now.. might be time.

One of my former lives, I was a roofer. We'd only do that if it was insisted by owner and only if it was just one layer.

Any idea on cost difference? Like if it's 4k vs 5k, then whatever. But 4k vs 8k

Well, it's been too long (20+ years). It should only be labor costs but you may pay for plywood if damage is found
