How well do pellet grills with direct flame features work?

I’ve noticed that some models have an option to cook over direct heat (ie Camp Chef SG). How comparable is this to a gas grill? Is it a good option for grilling burgers or just a gimmick?

My Pit Boss works well for open flam, but the space is limited.

I agree. Cooking at a high temp doesn’t achieve same results as direct flame.
