Is Santa Barbara, CA considered a small and relatively unknown city?
I was talking with a coworker this morning and we were talking about where we grew up, and was a little taken back at her reaction to me knowing where Santa Barbara is.

Me: “So where is home for you?”
Her: “California”
Me: “Cool, what part?”
Her: “Southern CA”
Me: “Sounds warm, where in Southern CA?”
Her: “A small town called Santa Barbara”
Me: “That’s cool, that’s one of my favorite places to visit when I’m down that way.”
Her: “NO WAY!! You’re familiar with Santa Barbara??!!”

I was startled at first because I didn’t think it was that obscure of a place. I’m pretty sure there is a lot of tourism there. I mean it’s not massive but it’s not a rural farming community. I got a good laugh because her perception of it is so different than mine.
