Hypnotoad Intervention Needed
I think so. Although Rolling Stone disagrees with my assessment. Other than
the lead singer's voice and the fact that they use rock chord progressions, I think the sound has diverged from their classic rock homage.

But I think in an age without rock, any band that comes along and tries to reassert rock into the zeitgeist is going to be criticized. After 40+ years of mainstream popularity, there are only so many chords and riffs you can play on the guitar before someone can criticize you for mimicking someone or song that has come before. What I find interesting about this criticism is that to me, most EDM, pop, and rap sounds very similar. EDM especially falls into that category. I don't know how you can be a music critic and mock Greta Van Fleet while praising some new EDM or pop that sounds just like all other EDM and pop songs that have come before.
