DecisiveInvestor.com has to be one of the sketchiest LDS member owned investing sites. I only just heard of it here in
the past couple of days, but just look at this.

First there's the disclaimer on their website:
DECISIVE INVESTOR LLC IS NOT A FINANCIAL ADVISOR, INVESTMENT BROKER OR DEALER, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF MONETARY CONSULTANT, AND
DECISIVE INVESTOR LLC, MAKES NO WARRANTIES THAT ITS PROGRAM SHALL PROVIDE ANY PARTICULAR RESULT, GOOD OR BAD, FOR RECIPIENT OR ANYONE ELSE.

The last part is obvious when it comes to financial advisors, but they claim not to be even that. So if they don't advise, then what exactly do they do? Seems like they are just trying to avoid having to be regulated. Then there is the complete lack of details about what they actually do for you and the testimonials and "results" pages that just throw out all these "returns" numbers like a service that has only been live during a bull market is somehow magically getting all these great returns.

My favorite testimonial is this one:
Where else these days can you get a 10-15% annual return on your retirement money (with minimal risk), while maintaining control and avoiding exorbitant ongoing fees?

Uhh how about VTSAX? Oh and speaking of exorbitant ongoing fees, you'll have to contact them directly to find out what those are, but thanks to a couple of fellow CBers, I've learned that you can have all this for the low low price of $15K for the first year and then $1500 every year after that.

Add on top of that this is a BYU/LDS guy who lives in Utah and is relying on referrals from members of the church and it starts to feel very scummy.

I looked the owner up and it sounds like he basically just created a software tool to do his investment analysis automatically and it just tells you what trades to make. And then he realized this could benefit other people (and himself), but since he doesn't want to get regulated as an investment advisor or broker, he keeps the details scant online so that you can only find out anything by contacting them directly. Sort of like the equivalent of "hey guys I just created this fancy spreadsheet, you want a copy for $15k"?

Oh btw, you still have to make the trades yourself. You are paying a buttload and you still have to spend 20 minutes a day making the actual trades yourself.

The real winners here are the guys running the program. Who knows how this will go in a bear market.

I'm not disputing that people have had some level of success with this site, but I'm dismayed that anyone could ever even get involved with it.
