Don’t spend > 1/3 income on housing hasn’t applied for a decade. Housing costs
scale with inflation and the general economy of the local area, but other costs (food, utilities, etc) do not. It is fine to spend 50% of income on housing if you able to invest, pay for expenses, and avoid debt on the other 50%.
