This kinda cuts it down. Only 12 automatically make it now.
The way they structure it makes it fair to me as well. Keeps things interesting for more teams, which I think is a good thing. Might help curtail tanking a bit.

The only way I’d support it is if they seeded 1-16. Earning 8th in the west is different than 8th in the East.
