Its possible the disk isn't getting enough power from the laptop.

I'm assuming it's a USB disk right now. Try plugging it into something else like a USB 3.0 port, or try using one of those adapters that merges 2 USB ports on the laptop into one on the disk-side (for more power)

Finally got it by putting ssd in an external hard drive enclosure I had.
