You could rephrase that question as "why is crypto so volatile?" And the answer is:
wild speculation, profit taking for early adopters, greed, fear of coins going to zero, huge increases causing selling, panic selling, catalyst announcements that could increase the value, etc, etc.
It's kind of like the wild west. Only put in what you are fine losing.
