Call them and tell them you are cash pay.
Ask them if they offer a cash pay price/discount. Most offices do. They have the higher fee for insurance companies, but will drop the fee to a more reasonable one for patients without insurance. I have had to do this 4 or 5 times as I am cash pay too. It sucks and my wife gets so embarrassed when I do it.

edit: The MD/DO probably has no idea how much the knee brace fee is.
