I’ve had two ACLs and two meniscus tears in the same knee, am in my mid 30s

and run 15-20 miles per week and have had no issues with my bum knee since high school when all the injuries happened.

Point being that an ACL doesn’t really have to be “bad” news from a longevity perspective. I think it varies a lot on the person. Sucks for your son, though.
