swollen that they tried to pry my eyes open, but couldn't see anything. They claim that they seriously thought I didn't have eyes. Who knows how much of that is exaggeration, but they all seem to agree.

Metal tongs (forceps) are still used. My daughter was posterior and the doc used forceps.
