I noticed a post on facebook with a bunch of kids in the parking lot behind the school deep frying catfish. Apparently they also went fishing and caught the catfish as part of a class project. Looking over the posts on the page from the past year, the kids in the meats class:
-Butchered and then made a dinner with a deer that was donated by a hunter last fall. Looks like a lot of the deer meet was also wrapped and packaged and frozen for the kids to take home.
-Butchered and cut/wrapped a steer and two hogs. There were lots of pictures of the kids cooking up different beef and pork dishes.
-They also did something with lamb or mutton, but it's not clear if they butchered a whole sheep/lamb. They also had some bison, elk, and bear meat that was donated that they made dishes/meals out of.
Apparently the class is part of the ag program. Why aren't more HS classes like this? It looks awesome!
