I had a conversaton with someone close to the balloon situation and it appears the prosecutor wanted to enter a reduced charge and then work it out as a misdemeanor. The judge refused this offer. All of this was known. But what I was told tonight was the judge in the case wants to take the case to trial and hinted that he wanted to make and example out of the players. I hope this is not true because there is no reason not to reduce the charges and work out an agreement.
