This is spot on. The rough areas are generally not tourist spots.
Parts of spenard, fairview, and mtn view can be rough. But as long as you're not a lone, inebriated, homeless, female you have good odds of not being victimized.

It’s mostly bear-on-bear crime in the downtown area so you should be fine.
