In order to avoid awarding him stock, that assumes that they have a legal obligation to award him stock in the first place, and unless that was part of his employment agreement or something like that, I highly doubt that's the case.

Hopefully he lawyered up. That’s actually a pretty easy lawsuit, and the company surely would have settled.
