Company had to “fire” someone because of the recession, but his part of the company actually does better whenever the market fluctuates so they were doing really well. It was simply the parent company (JPmorgan) that required it as a cost cutting measure. So they fired the guy and re hired him to a different position so they could say they “fired” him.
Granted, I was like 15 when this happened so details are likely fuzzy.
