So, I think you need to draw the line somewhere. I have no problem with bird
hunting dogs. Seems like there is still plenty of sport in it.
And that really is the key point here. What do you consider sport? Hunting with a huge group of dogs seems to cross the line for me.
You make a good point with the high powered rifle. But every time I’ve gone deer hunting with a rifle I’ve been skunked. So it seems the deer have a dang good chance of getting away. St least with me! I guess that’s how I’d determine where to draw the line. Do you have a decent chance of not getting an animal? A sport is fun because you can win or lose and you don’t know the outcome. If you are guaranteed a win, it takes away something.

In nature death is never pretty. It could easily be argued these bears had a more humane death than their cohorts
