The fact is, the margin of victory in this rivalry is literally among the smallest of any rivalry in the country in the last 20 years (was actually the smallest, last I checked).
So, you can agree with the OP in that it’s weak to try to excuse close losses because only the wins matter (I do agree with that), but if that’s true, don’t try to discredit our close wins in the same breath.
You win or you lose. That’s it. I don’t really care about margin.
But if you’re going to insist on quibbling about margin (as you seem to want to) instead of just wins and losses, the rivalry by that metric is much closer than the streak itself would imply. So don’t. It’s counterproductive to the OP’s valid argument.
Utah has had the wins for a looooong time, and that’s all that matters. Any fan should be able to accept that alone. But the additional self-loathing is dumb from BYU fan.
