Cincy had a really good 2019 season to set up their top 10 season in 2020.

If BYU had a highly ranked, quality 2018 season (which they did not), they would have had the benefit of the doubt through 2019.

And if BYU has a quality schedule with only a couple of losses to quality P5 teams, they're set up much better than Cincy was, IMHO.

Only time will tell with BYU. You're right that that has been BYU's history in independence. But some signs point to BYU potentially turned a corner as a program in terms of depth and talent to better contend against P5 schedule.

Bronco never had great depth...even with some quality starters. And the cupboard was bare for Kalani in terms of depth, especially on the lines.

Again, time will tell whether BYU can better withstand its P5 quality schedule, or revert back to a .500 team vs. P5. We'll find out in a few months, in fact.
