From the summary, it looks like hound hunts help bear conservation. That never really was the point I was making but there is no arguing it. It says nothing of the ethics of each hunt from what I could read. Calling this sportsmanlike or not is totally subjective. It just rubs me the wrong way. I’m entitled to my opinion even with all the fist shaking. Sorry guys. 5 out of 7 states shut it down. So, maybe I’m not the only one that has some doubts on it. I wonder how those other 5 states are managing the bear populations. Now that would tell us something.

After reading about it, and looking at some of the better arguments on here, I am fine keeping it legal as it actually helps in conservation. My first couple responses here were more of a visceral reaction. I know, shocking that every post I make isn’t studiously borne out by the latest info. Hunting with hounds isn’t for me. But everyone can have their opinion. Plenty want to do it and that’s great. Go get em.

I’ve been thinking about the comments on here the last couple of days. Just how heated things get over something that honestly, most of us don’t know much about. We can have a friendly disagreement over some new rule in the NFL, But the minute a post even whiffs of politics, out come the fangs. And I’m certainly guilty of it.

I just wish we could keep it to the argument instead of insulting each others intelligence or turning to sarcasm (lowest form of wit). I’ve always enjoyed cougarboard because it’s much better at this than say reddit.

Anyways, I have no idea if anyone will even read this, just wanted to get it off my chest. I apologize to all the great sportsmen here. If you believe in your heart you are sportsmen, then it must be true. (Jiminy cricket said that, in so many words)
