MIGHT!
The reasons make sense, although I do not see Boysenberry State in the mix for the same reasons the PAC would never invite them:
Small stadium, below average facilities and most important, really poor academics. BSU makes 408th ranked West Virginia look like Harvard Light.
Texas, Oklahoma, Baylor and Kansas are all significant top 100 universities like BYU. If academics is that important, I do not think they will set a bar lower than West Virginia. I could be wrong, but that's really stretching it. Tulane is a much more logical academic choice. Colorado state makes more geographic sense and fits the academic bill much better as well. If you are bringing in BYU at the outer edge, you go for TV market. A CSU in the Denver market (and it really is) would mean taking a chink of PAC12 territory just like taking BYU. Yes if the rumors are true, ESPN is really driving this. The SLC BOT question may really be about getting out of the WCC for basketball on a time frame that does not damage the WCC and helps persuade the Big 12 to go with the flow.
