The St Bernard someone gave us bit a kid. Obviously it was our fault. But St Bernard is another top ten bad breed along with the German Shepherd. My best friend had a SB and I was happy to hear when Amy got cancer and had to be put down. She had attacked me on several occasions (knocked me down, pinned me to the ground and snapped at my head). She tore one of the neighbor kid's ears almost all the way off.

Good times in the Santa Cruz Mts where dogs ran free. A pack of dogs tore up another close friend's dog. He found it after school dying on the front step of the house. He went in, got his .22 and hunted the dog pack down. He was about to shoot the third and final dog when it ran across the road and another neighbor ran it over. The neighbor leaned out the window of his pickup and said, "I thought I would save you the trouble. Thanks for taking care of this." This isn't a made up story. Feral cats and roaming dog packs were a problem where I lived in the 70s and 80s
