VACougMD Walk-on
Sports medicine / Emergency medicine doc here. Hate to be critical,
as these situations are always difficult. But this should have been a jog to the player, pulse check immediately, chest compressions within 10 seconds while getting the AED set up, and then defibrillation within 1 minute. Luckily, it seems there was a good outcome, but that took too long. A 1 minute or 2 delay in these situations can make a huge difference. Wonder what the background of the physician is. For some sideline docs (i.e. orthopedic surgeon), this type of event is out of their wheelhouse and may explain the delay.
