Yep usually it’s time to defibrillation which is the real driver on whether
Someone makes it (with immediate cpr determine if brain survives) but either he had return of circulation/pulses before they could get a defribrillator there or didn’t have a shockable rhythm (ie not ventricular fibrillation) which woukd be pretty rare in that scenario . I bet he was shocked

Unfortunately sudden cardiac arrest in athletes is woefully under screened and and unprepared for on all levels though I would be extremely surprised if they didn’t have immediate access to a defibrillator at a game of that level- but maybe didn’t know where it was. I didn’t see or read about the details of the response
