Replace Coils or Injectors as matter of maintenance?
I just replaced a fuel pump, and it was mostly preventative. We had a few instances last summer where it would crank but not start when engine was hot (like after free way driving followed by short stop). A faulty pump, fuel pressure regulator, and other parts of the integrated fuel-pump-assembly seemed like possible culprits. And at 200K miles, I figured we'd gotten plenty of value out of the original pump. Combined with a pump-failure leaving you stranded with no quick fix, it seemed worth it.

I'm also due for new spark plugs. Which means removing the air intake plenum. Which makes me think about (1) coils and (2) fuel injectors.

Fuel injectors are expensive enough I really hesitate to replace them before failure. Coils aren't too expensive. Then again, why pay anything if the old ones are working? It is possible a leaky fuel injector was causing flooding and our hot-start issues. . . hmm.

Your opinion will be given the weight it deserves, and is appreciated anyway. Replace some/all of it now or let it ride until stuff breaks?
