Says they won't be signing a vet backup and that Huntley has looked better than McSorley.
Honestly though, I'm not sure it matters that much in the grand scheme of things. Whether Huntley is the backup or 3rd string, two things remain true.
A: Zach Wilson had a stronger collegiate showing. Huntley did some great things, but the accolades and stats ZW put up (yes, against lesser competition) vault him above Huntley.
B: Huntly ranks among the top 100 QBs in the world (loosely assuming 32 teams with 3 QBs each), which is nothing to scoff at. Any player who is on an NFL roster as a QB has to be pretty stupendous in the grand scheme of things.
I don't understand why it's impossible to accept both those things. It always devolves to "Huntley sucks" (clearly not true) or "Wilson is overrated, product of the schedule and honestly no good" (also not true). Why can't we just say that Huntley was a very good college QB, is playing well enough to stick in the NFL, but that he doesn't have the upside or collegiate track record that Wilson does (which is why Huntley was a UDFA instead of a 1st rounder)?
