You're assuming "they" want BYU in.
Front loaded means little room for error, yet having a "tough" schedule (which will be hard to get) in the 2nd half of the season means a likely loss which would make it tough to justify getting in. One loss against #16 CCU dropped you from 8 to #16 behind a lot of 2-3 loss teams and that was with BYU starting much higher than they would have in a normal year.
