Compared to Auburn? could see the committee considering it, closer than we think
By comparison, Auburn will play 6 top 25 ranked P5 teams (going off ESPN's current way-too-early Top 25), 3 other P5s, 2 G5s and 1 FCS.

So a 9-3 Auburn would have beat:
3 top 25 P5s
3 other P5s
2 G5s
1 FCS

And an 11-1 BYU against an average (over the last 5 years) Indy schedule would have beat:
1 top 25 P5
1 top 25 G5
3 other P5s
5 G5s
1 FCS

In that scenario, as a fan of college football I prefer to see the little guy get it (whether that's BYU or Memphis or SMU) because there's more uncertainty there, but I can see why the committee might lean Auburn, especially if they don't want to overly punish them for losing to 3 top 5 teams. I appreciate that because it pushes teams to schedule better, but it's also frustrating since Auburn has already had a chance to show what they have against those top teams and has come up lacking.
