Just heard that a dear friend of mine chose to take his own life this morning.
I guess the overall feeling I have besides overwhelming sadness is betrayal. He leaves behind a wife of three years (no children) and plenty of others who will miss him greatly. We knew he had his battles, but he was seeking help and things seemed to be getting better. I cried for a while when I got the call.
If you are struggling, please do not take this route. The world is much better with you in it. You still have so much to experience and contribute. Regardless of how alone you might feel, there are individuals who will miss you. They will feel a hole where you once were, a mixture of sorrow and anger, and you will cause them incredible amounts of pain in dealing with your loss.
Please do not take this route. Things are never so bad that they cannot get better.
