If we are top 12 in indy we get an at large most years.
The problem is that an autobid is guaranteed to the top 6 conference champions. That involves almost no bias.
The committee will be just as if not more biased than they already were for the at larges. A top 12 caliber BYU team will not be ranked top 12 unless they are top 5 caliber most likely because of the drop we will get from the committee. The bias is there and the problem is actually getting ranked top 12. That's where the 0% chance of getting in as an indy comes from.
