BlooCoog Intervention Needed
Quin Snyder failed his team. Jazz brass put together a great collection of
players and Quin Snyder did not put them in a position to succeed. In the most crucial moment of their most promising season in years, Snyder failed his team.

The defensive game plan for the Clippers series was atrocious. I know high school coaches who could put together a better defensive game plan.

The last two games the Clippers are missing their best offensive and defensive player: Snyder couldn’t figure out how to capitalize. Terance Mann, a guy who averages 7 points a game, scores 39 points in a close out game. Snyder’s defensive plan allows the Clippers so many wide open 3s in the second half that they shoot 70% from 3 point range to erase a 25 point Jazz lead, which is one of the biggest collapse in NBA playoff history.

This is to say nothing of the Jazz team that didn’t show up defensively at all in games 3 and 4, and had a huge defensive lapse in the 3rd quarter of game 5.

Snyder either needs to hire an assistant coach who is a defensive wizard—and then actually listen to that coach. Or he needs to be fired.

Failures like this postseason are franchise changers. Superstars don’t want to stay with franchises who fail like this in the post season. Free agents don’t want to play for franchises with epic post season failures.

Snyder has done nothing noteworthy in the playoffs in his career. His teams have failed to take the next step year after year.

This was a year where Jazz brass had given him the talent to contend. He failed to take the next step.

Ryan Smith needs to hold Snyder accountable. And he needs to start getting together a Plan B in case Snyder flames out in the postseason yet again next season. Another first or second round loss next year, and it’s time for Snyder to go.

Jazz players, Jazz brass, and Jazz fans deserve better coaching than this.
