I may have missed earlier discussion of this, but when it comes to the SC ruling
today, I'm not worried. I think that BYU has been proactive in all of this and plans on playing with the Big Boys. Tom Holmoe said as much in his statement to the Desnews:
“While many are looking at what NIL will mean for the fastest ways to get student-athletes paid, we are in this for the long haul.”
If anything, this levels the playing field for BYU even more. The expansion of the playoff to 12 teams and this ruling by the SC both have the potential to open a lot of doors for BYU.
