Someone asked a question about the shoe “shrine” display in the new locker room- Here is the answer:
I was fortunate to receive a private tour of the locker room last week.

The man that designed it said that the shoe display is as much utility and function as it is just a really awesome display.

The players are constantly changing shoes depending on if it is practice, real games, if the games are in grass or turf etc. and there are numerous styles for each of these scenarios, therefore lots of shoes in the BYU inventory.

He said that one of the major issues they were having was a player would grab one of their teammates shoe (often times with the shoes original owner unaware) that they liked from a locker and bring it to one of the equipment managers and say they wanted that same style shoe in their size.

The Manager would take the player back, get him fitted with the requested shoe. However, during the process the “borrowed” shoe would be forgotten or lost or the player borrowing it couldn’t remember what locker they took it from. That original player would eventually get to their locker and find they now only have one shoe in their locker which would cause a whole host of issues with players being upset, late to get out on the practice field etc.

This new display shows each of the shoes that are available in the inventory and they are labeled so a player can now look at the shoes he wants and go tell an equipment manager what it is or they can bring an equipment manager out to the display and simply point to the shoes they want.

The mannequin is also going to display the uniform of the upcoming weeks game so the players know and can plan accordingly.

Bottom Line: No one has to grab a teammates shoe anymore and lose it.

Here is a picture I took of the display.f865cd9390912f8c0fbb6469671e595c.jpeg
