There was no physical evidence in this case it just came down to the coerced testimony of a meth head trying to avoid life in prison. Cooley’s initial confession was way off from what actually happened (claiming he fed the body to pigs, etc)
This case was clearly personal to the DA. Why else would they spend so much time and resources on this particular murder. It was the second longest murder trial in California history.
I thought it was very interesting what the two jurors said after the trial. They thought it was clear that the DA had a personal vendetta. One of the them did not want to identify herself for fear that the DA would target her next.
The Cell phone tower expert was incompetent
The three highway patrol guys were collateral damage and got screwed. Their only “crime” was apparently being friends with the immigrant owners of a liquor store
How can this be anything other than corruption? I’m glad this case has been shown the light day.
