I don't know how old it is because it came with the house but it's a samsung energy efficient one. Ever since we bought it, it's extremely difficult to get it to spin unless it's very well balanced. I've often had to take the clothes out and basically lay them in a circle around the drumb so it could get up to speed. I'm wondering if I should pay the money for someone to come repair it, or just buy one for $500-$700
