Yup this thread is sad, so much misguided and misdirected hate in this thread.

Sounds like the ER doc should just be a slave. Forced to see the patient due to EMTALA, but also forced to see the patient for free because patient and insurance both refuse to pay.

These balance billing laws…I agree with them in principle to help the patient avoid these kinds of things, but all they are is huge protections for the insurance company pushed by their lobbyists to keep them from having to pay anything.
