Serious question - and I know you're pointing out many and more much broader
issues that are very valid. But isn't your average ER doc making a heck of a lot more per hour than NP Bob? I thought I had read in a couple of places recently that EM is compensated middle of the pack for specialties (think $350k+), and it's per-hour rate is especially good because it's shift work (and so you're not getting the 60 or 70 hour work weeks that an ortho would be getting, and certainly not without getting compensated extra for it). And isn't the hourly rate for EM something like $250-ish an hour, which is way more than NP Bob is getting?

Not trying to pick a fit at all, just trying to understand the facts as it's touched on several other discussions I've heard recently. And in any of these scenarios, I'm not saying docs aren't compensated fairly at all or looking over the extensive and long training that justifies reasonably high compensation levels - these are all valid factors.
