We were in Mexico over New Years. Someone thought it would be awesome to set off a very loud firework near me. Instant ringing and loss of hearing. Saw an ENT soon thereafter. Had a series of steroid injections. Sound was very distorted to me for several weeks. Over time distorted sound has healed but I’ve had a significant loss of volume in certain frequencies.

I trialed a hearing aid a few months ago but it just amplified the distortion I was hearing. Decided to not get a hearing aid then and give it a few months more to see if things would heal a bit.

With the distortion now gone, but loss of volume still very present, I decided to give the hearing aid another go. I’ve been using it for the last couple of days. Amazing technology. I can hear voices again without straining to hear.

I’ve always loved music. I’m sitting here listening to music right now and it sounds like I remember. What a blessing this aid tech is. I feel quite emotional about it.
