Summoned to court in Atlanta because I fought a parking ticket
Background:
July 5th
-I park on the street and the sign says holidays are exempt from paying the meter
-I come back to a ticket on my window for ($35) along with every other car on the street
-A police officer happens to be driving by and I flag him down. He agrees it is BS that there are tickets there and he verified with his supervisor that it is a city holiday. A different “parking authority” is the ones handing out the tickets. He suggests taking photos and appealing
-I drive to courthouse (same day) and it is closed because it is a holiday!

July 6th
- I submit my appeal with the photos and comments from police officer

July 13th
- Appeal is denied “Insufficient Claim”

July 20th
- I receive a summons to appear in Court in Atlanta

Honestly, this has nothing to do with the $35. It is more about seeing how screwed up the system is.

What are my options…
Fly back to Atlanta to fight it? Can I get one of the public defenders assigned to my case?

The most likely is I just pay the ticket but that is exactly what they want me to do and is essentially bending over.
