Lucky for Boise the team they were playing didn't play better. Otherwise, the circumstances could have been different.
That's essentially the argument here. It reminds me of my sour grapes arguments that BSU didn't actually beat Oklahoma, Oklahoma lost it, and Boise was just lucky that Adrian Peterson was in his first game back from a season long collar bone injury, and Oklahoma was playing a backup quarterback who was a WR on the roster earlier.
My arguments were immature sour grapes then, and similar arguments are now. Boise played who they played and beat them. All competition is relative by definition, and these types of arguments are just sour grapes.
